Cloud Summit X was our largest event to date as cloud professionals from over 60 countries came together to celebrate 10 years of thought leadership and technological innovation. I’ve already received a ton of positive feedback so I’m glad attendees got to enjoy everything this premier event had to offer from engaging keynotes to a peek into some of the latest improvements to Ingram Micro’s massive ecosystem of global cloud resources—all while enjoying the view of San Diego’s gorgeous bayfront.
The hottest topics in cloud computing
We had an incredible lineup of keynote speakers who launched us into the future of cloud, multi-cloud and the massive IaaS opportunity that’s predicted to reach $44 billion in 2020. Alex Honnold from the Oscar-winning documentary, Free Solo, shifted gears and blew the audience away with his story of intense preparation, dedication and patience to make the impossible, possible.
The smaller breakout sessions delivered more in-depth insights into digital solutions that help accelerate revenue. With 55+ sessions across nine different learning tracks, including a track dedicated to CloudBlue, attendees sat in on topics such as everything-as-a-service (XaaS) monetization, IaaS, blockchain, IoT, artificial intelligence, machine learning and more.
As Nimesh Davé stated in his keynote, building strong, first-rate partnerships is critical to achieving success. Microsoft’s Gavriella Schuster also brought this theme home stating that “Microsoft and Ingram Micro have moved from partnering to a partnership.” She emphasized that with CloudBlue, we deliver value through the ecosystem.
Growing at constant velocity
After CloudBlue was announced at Cloud Summit 2018, it’s unbelievable to see how much the platform has grown in less than a year. So far, we’ve surpassed 30 million seats and continue to see tremendous success for Microsoft, CloudBlue and our partners.
In that same time period, we made significant strides by launching our first shared platform-as-a-service (PaaS) deployments. CloudBlue and Microsoft also introduced Velocity, a revolutionary program dedicated to bringing you best-of-breed, pre-integrated cloud services and pre-negotiated vendor contracts so you can get to market fast. The program gained immediate popularity and new deals are continuing to be signed.
Without our partners, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Together, we will continue to deliver extraordinary value and exciting products to help you succeed. This is what building profitable partnerships is all about.
During Cloud Summit X, major new additions and enhancements were announced, including CloudBlue 10.1, which will be available in April 2019. CloudBlue 10.1 boasts Connect integration, new REST API, volume pricing support, cloud-native architecture and more advanced features.
David Wippich announced Ingram Micro Connect, a digitized, self-service module that speeds up and simplifies every step of the product distribution process for ISVs. And the new Sales & Marketing Hub was introduced by Renée Bergeron. Available now in the US and META Cloud Marketplaces, the Hub gives our reseller partners a single destination packed with product information, sales tools and digital marketing capabilities. It will be rolled out to more country marketplaces throughout the year so keep an eye out for it.
Networking around the clock
The CloudBlue reception, Cloud Showcase, Tech Crawl and Final Night Party allowed the 1500+ Cloud Summit X attendees more opportunities than ever before to grow their network and have a great time while they were at it.
All the booths were bustling with people from around the world eager to meet ISVs such as Microsoft, Dropbox, DocuSign, SkyKick and IBM, and get to know top service providers such as CDW, Telefonica, Cobweb, America Movil, Insight and more. It was awesome to see so many huge players in the cloud industry together on the exhibit floor with their products, services and tech innovations on display.
If you’re headed to Microsoft Inspire in Las Vegas from July 14-18, make sure to connect with us. Our CloudBlue team will be scheduling meetings throughout the event.
Also, I highly encourage you to join us at a CloudBlue Executive Forum this fall. I’ve seen great things happen at these forums that are meant to bring together the world’s leading service providers and ISVs to collectively drive revenue and profitability. For more information, be sure to sign up so you can be kept in the loop.
I wish you all a very profitable rest of 2019. Let’s all gather again for Cloud Summit 2020 in Miami, bigger and better than we are today.
