Norcross, GA, January 9, 2012 – CloudBlue, a leading provider of e-waste management and reverse logistics service solutions, today announced that the company was named a “Visionary” by Gartner, Inc. in the just released “Magic Quadrant for North America Information Technology Asset Disposition.”*
Gartner’s Magic Quadrant “examines ITAD providers based in North America (many of which have an international presence) that Gartner believes have the approximate size, capabilities, certifications and delivered track record to justify consideration for [their] clients’ shortlists (assuming they meet clients’ individual requirements).”
“We consider our position in the Gartner “Visionaries” quadrant confirmation of our mission to seamlessly facilitate the entire electronic asset life cycle while reducing the risk, cost and complexity associated with sustainable electronics disposal,” said Ken Beyer, CEO of CloudBlue. “We will continue to expand our services globally, and innovate in data security methods and environmental stewardship to further enhance our market position in the ITAD sector.”
In the Magic Quadrant report, Gartner states that “ITAD service providers have become an important link in the overall management of IT equipment.” In particular, this is due to the fact that “the number and complexity of legislative mandates – often country/region-specific – that cover the secure and environmentally proper disposal of IT equipment are growing rapidly, and the consequences of non-compliance are quickly gaining board-level attention.” In a world where e-waste is often exported to emerging markets in developing countries and disposed of unsafely, a burgeoning ITAD sector is more crucial than ever.
Furthermore, ITAD vendors considered for the 2011 Magic Quadrant “are those that also act as advisors, and provide implementation services that encompass most or all levels of an ITAD solution.” To qualify, vendors are required to meet the following criteria: “current annual direct ITAD product and services revenue of USD 10 million; offerings in each major category of disposition, acquisition and ancillary services; robust ability to dispose of multiple asset classes; and must have attained industry certification in disposal and data security.”
With over 40 locations worldwide, CloudBlue manages all of the logistics of IT asset disposition from pick-up to transportation to remarketing for reuse and recycling. Its distributed operations model and exclusive-use trucks offer the lowest carbon footprint, helping corporations reduce costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Utilizing its proprietary asset tracking system, and best-in-class security measures, CloudBlue maintains a secure chain-of-custody for all customer assets. Customers are able to track each item online in real time and receive a comprehensive audit detailing the process and end result for all equipment.
