Recycling

CloudBlue offers clients the security of knowing that their electronics recycling is done safely, securely and in compliance with local, state, federal and international regulations. As one of the first companies to be certified by the Basel Action Network for adhrence to the e-Stewards Standard for Responsible Recycling and Reuse of Electronic Equipment^®, our processes and downstream partners have been audited to meet the highest industry standards for ethical and compliant recycling.

Any asset that has failed the testing process and has no remaining remarketing value will be marked for recycling as its final disposition. Our recycling process starts with a demanufacturing line where each asset is manually broken down into its component parts and separated based on commodity type. We then work with audited downstream refiners and smelters to return the commodities to the manufacturing stream when possible. We track all commodities through the downstream process for full weight-based balance accounting of every pound received and dispositioned through our facilities. CloudBlue is also ISO 14001-certified. We provide contractual guarantees and liability insurance coverage indemnifying our customers against environmental compliance risks. All of our processes exceed the EPA minimum standards for responsible recycling. We provide full downstream transparency and accountability through onsite audits and contractual agreements - which allows us to certify that no e-waste is exported to non-OECD countries, no e-waste is sent to landfills and and there is no use of prison labor.

Legislative Compliance
Since 2004, over 93 bills were introduced on the US federal and state level concerning electronics and landfill disposal bans. In addition, Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA / HI-TECH and Gramm-Leach-Bliley govern the handling of certain financial and personal data. Internationally, 11 countries including China have adopted the European Union Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) Directive.

CloudBlue remains up-to-date on all of these relevant environmental and data reporting laws and regulations to ensure that all of our recycling is compliant, relieving our customers of that burden.
